It's been so warm here lately, I can't help but think about spring! I had the idea swirling around in my head to turn the blades from an old ceiling fan into a floppy eared Easter bunny. After removing the hardware ( I'm in the process of repurposing those also) and cleaning them, I painted them with off white and gray chalk paint. I used a damp sponge, and sponged on the colors again.
I used one of the blades for the face, cheeks, and nose. we cut a portion off for the face, and cut out two hearts for the cheeks and nose. I cut a craft stick for the teeth and painted them white.
I painted two wood plugs for the eyes, and cut and painted the center of two flowers for the eyelashes. I glued all the face parts together, and placed it on the first two blades, and screwed it down.
After the last two blades were screwed down, I did a little touch up painting and added a light sponging of pink paint. I glued on the whiskers made from white floral wire, and painted on the black spots by the whiskers.
I made the hat from a dollar store place mat, and attached it with glue squares. I used hot glue in a few places later on when I added the moss, raffia bow, carrots, and flowers.
I like the way my bunny looks on the door, but both my front and back door have glass, and the back of the bunny isn't very pretty. So I'll probably give this a good spraying of clear protectant and hang her on my porch wall this spring.
I think every time I look at her she'll make me smile, I hope my whimsical bunny made you smile too! :-)
